Shri Krishna Vraj Lila :

In Vraj, the festival of Holi Danda Ropan is celebrated a month before Holi on the day of Purnima. According to the customs of Vraj, Nand Baba comes to the Crossroads of Shrimad Gokul with his entire entourage, singing kirtans and celebrating the festival.

People dance and sing joyously while Digging the Holi Danda. The Bhava behind this is to ensure that the Holi Khel that take place over the next 40 days go smoothly. For this reason, a Brahmin chants mantras and, follows the proper procedures with the sound of the Vedas.

Digs a stick with a red flag. This marks the beginning of the joyous festival and the singing of Dhamar Pad- Kirtan.

A red flag is hoisted on top of the stick, which is a symbol of victory and defeat. This signifies that Shri Krishna, the yogi, has accepted the challenge of Kamadev, who came to subdue him.

Nandrayaji, Vrishabhanji, the elder Gop, Yashodaji, Gopi-Gwal, Gopal, Baldev, and others all pay their respects and begin the Dhamar.

Changes in Seva  :

Starting from today, the Dhamar will commence. Every day during the Rajbhog Darshan, Gulal will be offered on the Prabhu’s Kapol (cheek). Gulal and Abir’s fent (pouch) is offered to Shreeji. A flower stick and a Pichkari are offered. The Khel – play of Gulal-Abir intensifies. Holi Gari songs are also sung.

Musical instruments like Jhanjh, Mridang, Dhap, Bansuri, etc., are played.

Today’s festival marks the completion of ten days of Seva of Shri Yamunaji. From Magh Krishna Pratipada, ten days are called the days of Dhamar and these are the days of seva of Shri Chandravaliji.

In Shriji, only the Kirtans of Vasant Rag are sung from Basant Panchami, whereas after the Holi-Danda Ropan, the Dhamar will begin, meaning that from today, Kirtans of other Rags can also be sung.

From today, for a month, Shriji is not adorned with the Kulhe Pagh. Because Kulhe Pagh Shringar is attached to Bal Bhava. The Holi Khel is of Kishor Bhava, hence Shringar like Sehra, Mukut, Tipara, etc., are Offered.

सभी द्वार में डेली मंडे, बंदरवाल बंधे।पुरे दिन जमनाजल की झारीजी आवे।दो समय थाली की आरती आवे।राजभोग में 6 बीड़ा की शिकोरी आवे।

वस्त्र:- घेरदार बागा,सुथन स्वेत।चोली चोवा की।पटका मोठड़ा को।पाग छज्जेदार स्वेत,स्याम खिड़की की।ठाड़े वस्त्र लाल।मोजाजी मेघ स्याम।पिछवाई स्वेत मलमल की।

आभरण:- सब सोना के।हल्के श्रृंगार।चार माला तायत वाली धरावे।त्रवल नहीं आवे,कंठी आवे।श्रीमस्तक पे मोर को क़तरा ,सुनहरी फोन्दना को।वेणु वेत्र सोना के बटदार।आरसी बड़ी डाँड़ी की।पट चीड़ को,गोटी चाँदी की।

भोग में केसरी पेठा, मीठी सेव, दूधघर की हांडी, गोपीवल्लभ में सिकोरी, फीका में चालनी अरोगे।

आरती पीछे आभरण बड़े करने।लूम तुर्रा सुनहरी।डांडा रुपे वा समय से धमार सुरु होवे।आज से श्रृंगार के अनुसार पोटली बंधे,कपोल मंडे, फेट भरे।आज से पिचकारी सुरु।आज राजभोग में पोटली से गुलाल,अबीर उड़े।। 

मंगला – साँची कहो मनमोहन मोसों

राजभोग – अष्टपदी खेलन फाग चली लालन संग

आरती – ऋतु बसंत तरु लसंत

शयन – ऋतु बसंत सुख खेलीये हो आयो

विशेषः आज से डोल पर्यन्त मान के पद नहीं होवें
