Sarvottam Strotra
prākṛtadharmānāśrayam aprākṛtanikhiladharmarūpamiti ।
nigama pratipādyaṃ yattacchuddhaṃsākṛtistaumi ॥ 1 ॥
Meaning: Shri Vitthalnathji says: I praise Shri Mahaprabhuji, who is beyond the support of Prākṛta Dharma and is the embodiment of the entire Aprākṛta Dharma; thus proclaimed in the Vedas; and whose form is manifest and pure. ॥1॥
kalikālatamaśchanna dṛṣṭitvādviduṣāmapi ।
saṃpratyaviṣayastasya māhātmyaṃsamabhūdabhūvi ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning: Even the vision of knowledge possessed by learned persons is veiled by the darkness of the age of Kali. Therefore, the greatness of that divine form has, at present, become unknown upon the earth. ॥2॥
dayānijamāhātmyaṃ kariṣyanprakaṭaṃhariḥ ।
vāṇyāyadātadāstrādhyaṃ prādurbhūtaṃcakārahi ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning: When, out of compassion, Shri Hari desired to manifest His own greatness through His words, He manifested His own Mukhāravinda. ॥3॥
tadūktamapidurbodhaṃ subodhaṃsyādyathātathā ।
tannāmāṣṭottaraśataṃ pravakṣyāmyakhilāghahat ॥ 4 ॥
Meaning: However, what He has spoken is difficult to understand. Therefore, in order to make it easily understandable, I shall narrate the one hundred and eight Names of Shri Mahaprabhuji, which destroy all sins. ॥4॥
ṛṣiragnikumārastu nāmnāṃchandojagatyasau ।
śrīkṛṣṇāsya devatā ca vījaṃ kāruṇikaḥ prabhuḥ ॥ 5 ॥
Meaning: The Ṛṣi of this stotra is Agnikumāra, and its metre is Jagatī. Shri Mahaprabhuji, who is the Mukhāravinda-svarūpa of Shri Krishna, is its Deity, and the compassionate Prabhu is its Bīja. ॥5॥
viniyogo bhaktiyogaḥ pratibaṃdha vināśane ।
kṛṣṇādharāmṛtāsvāda siddhiratra na saṃsayaḥ ॥ 6 ॥
Meaning: In this Sarvottama Stotra, the Viniyoga, that is, its purpose, is Bhakti-yoga for the removal of all obstacles. Herein is attained the Siddhi of relishing the Adharāmṛta of Shri Krishna. There is no doubt about this. ॥6॥
ānandaḥ paramānandaḥ śrīkṛṣṇāsyaṃ kṛpānidhiḥ ।
devoddhāraprayatnātmā smṛtimātrārtināśanaḥ ॥ 7 ॥
Meaning: (1) The embodiment of Ānanda, (2) the embodiment of Paramānanda, (3) the Mukhāravinda-svarūpa of Shri Krishna, (4) the ocean of Kṛpā, (5) the One who strives within His heart for the upliftment of divine souls, and (6) the One who destroys suffering by mere remembrance—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥7॥
śrībhāgavatagūḍhārtha prakāśanaparāyaṇaḥ ।
sākārabrahmavādaika sthāpako vedapāragaḥ ॥ 8 ॥
Meaning: (7) Ever engaged in illuminating the profound meaning of the Śrīmad Bhāgava(8) ta, the establisher of Sākāra Brahmavāda, and (9) the One who has reached the far shore of the Vedas,such is Shri Acharya Mahaprabhuji. ॥8॥
māyāvāda nirākartā sarvavādi nirāsakṛt ।
bhāṃktamārgābjamārttaḍaḥ srīśudrāṃdyudvūtikṣamaḥ ॥ 9 ॥
Meaning: (10) The refuter of Māyāvāda, (11) the refuter of all opposing doctrines, (12) the Sun in the propagation of Bhakti-mārga, and (13) the One who is capable of uplifting women and Śūdras and others,such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥9॥
agīkṛtyeva gopīśa vallabhīkṛtamānavaḥ ।
aṃgīkṛtau samaryādo mahākāruṇiko vibhuḥ ॥ 10 ॥
Meaning: (14) Through Aṅgīkāra, He makes human beings the Vallabha (beloved) of Gopīśa Shri Krishna, (15) disciplined in Aṅgīkāra, (16) supremely compassionate, and (17) capable of accomplishing all,such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥10॥
adeyadānadakṣaśya mahodāracaritravān ।
prākṛtānukṛtivyāja mohitāsuramānuṣaḥ ॥ 11 ॥
Meaning: (18) The One who is capable of bestowing that which cannot be given, (19) of noble character, and (20) who deludes demoniac people under the pretext of following ordinary worldly people—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥11॥
vaiśvānaro vallabhākhyaḥ sadrūpohitakṛtsatām ।
janaśikṣākṛtekṛṣṇa bhaktikṛnakhileṣṭadaḥ ॥ 12 ॥
Meaning: (21) Manifested from Fire, (22) known by the name Vallabha, (23) of noble form, (24) the benefactor of righteous souls, (25) who educates people through the practice of Bhakti towards Shri Krishna, and (26) who grants every desired object that a person seeks in relation to the divine Svarūpa of Bhagavān—such is Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhu. ॥12॥
sarvalakṣaṇasaṃpannaḥ śrīkṛṣṇajñānado guruḥ ।
svānandatu dilaḥ padmadalāyatavilocanaḥ ॥ 13 ॥
Meaning: (27) Endowed with every auspicious characteristic, (28) the giver of the knowledge of Shri Krishna, (29) the Guru who imparts the teachings of the Mārga, (30) filled with His own Ānanda, and (31) whose eyes are broad like the petals of a lotus—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥13॥
kṛpādṛgavṛṣṭisaṃhṛṣṭa dāsadāsī priyaḥpatiḥ ।
roṣadṛkpātasaṃpluṣṭa bhakttadviḍbhakttasevitaḥ ॥ 14 ॥
Meaning: (32) Beloved of the servant-devotees who are filled with joy by the shower of His gracious glances, (33) the protector (Pati) of those souls who have taken refuge, (34) the destroyer of the enemies of devotees through His wrathful glance, and (35) the One served by devotees—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥14॥
sukhasevyo durārādhyo durlabhāṃdhrisaroruhaḥ ।
ugrapratāpo vākasīdhuṃ pūritāśeṣasevakaḥ ॥ 15 ॥
Meaning: (36) whose seva can be performed easily with aananda, (37) attainable through alaukika suffering, (38) whose lotus-like feet are rare to attain, (39) supremely majestic in glory, and (40) who fills all Sevakas through the nectar of His speech—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥15॥
śrī bhāgavatapīyūṣa samudramayanakṣamaḥ ।
tatsārabhūtarāsatrī bhāvāritavigrahaḥ ॥ 16 ॥
Meaning: (41) Capable of churning the ocean of Śrīmad Bhāgavata and bringing forth its nectar, and (42) whose entire being is fulfilled through the feminine bhāva of the Rāsa-krīḍā, which is the very essence of the Bhāgavata—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥16॥
sānnidhyamātradatta śrīkṛṣṇapremāvimuktidaḥ ।
rāsalīlaikatātparyaḥ kṛpayaitatkathāpadaḥ ॥ 17 ॥
Meaning: (43) The One who bestows Shri Krishna-prema upon devotees merely through His Shelter, (44) the giver of Mukti in the form of relationship with Bhagavān, (45) whose sole contemplation is Rāsa-līlā, and (46) who, out of grace, narrates the Kathā of Shri Krishna relating to Rāsa-līlā—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥17॥
virahānubhavaikārtha sarvatyāgopadeśakaḥ ।
bhaktyācāropadeṣṭāca karmamārgapravarttakaḥ ॥ 18 ॥
Meaning: (47) The One who teaches Sarva-tyāga solely for the experience of Viraha, (48) who imparts the Āchāra of Bhakti and Bhakti-mārga, and (49) who promotes Karma-mārga—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥18॥
yāgādau bhaktimārgaika sādhanatvopadeśakaḥ ।
pūrṇānandaḥ pūrṇakāmo vākūpatirvibudheśvaraḥ ॥ 19 ॥
Meaning: (50) The One who teaches that, in Yāga (Yajña) and other karmas, Bhakti-mārga alone is the sole means, (51) full of Ānanda, (52) possessed of complete alaukika fulfilment, (53) the Swami of Vaani (speech), and (54) the Ishwara of the knowledge of Bhakti-mārga—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥19॥
kṛṣṇanāmasahastasya vaktā bhaktiparāyaṇaḥ ।
bhaktyācāropadeśārtha nānāvākyanirūpakaḥ ॥ 20 ॥
Meaning: (55) The Publisher of the Shri Puruṣottama Sahasranāma, (56) the refuge of devotees, and (57) the One who expounds various statements for the purpose of teaching Bhakti and Āchāra—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥20॥
svārthojjhitākhilaprāṇa priyastādṛśaceṣṭitaḥ ।
svadāsārthkṛtāśeṣasādhanaḥ sarvaśaktidhṛk ॥ 21 ॥
Meaning: (58) Beloved of those devotees who, for the sake of Sevā, have renounced everything which is opposed to Sevā and offered their entire life-breath unto the Prabhu, (59) surrounded by such Tādṛśī devotees, (60) who has performed every Sadahnas for the sake of His own servants, and (61) who upholds all powers—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥21॥
bhuvibhaktipracāraikakṛteḥ svānvayakṛtpitā ।
svavaṃśaisthāpitā’śeṣa svamāhātmayaḥ smayāpahaḥ ॥ 22 ॥
Meaning: (62) The One who established His lineage solely for the propagation of Bhakti upon the earth, (63) the fatherly source of Prema-lakṣaṇā Bhakti, (64) who established His entire Mahātmya within His own lineage, and (65) who removes delusion—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥22॥
pativṛtāpatiḥ pāralaukike hikadānakṛt ।
nigūḍhahṛdayo’nanya bhaktepujñāpitāśayaḥ ॥ 23 ॥
Meaning: (66) The husband of Mahālakṣmījī, (67) the One who bestows upon His devotees the fruits of this world and the next, (68) whose heart cannot be fully comprehended, and (69) who reveals His innermost heart to exclusive devotees. ॥23॥
upāsanādi mārgātimugdhamoha nivārakaḥ ।
bhaktimārge sarvamārgavailakṣaṇyānubhutikṛt ॥ 24 ॥
Meaning: (70) The One who removes the delusion of those who have become deeply attached to the paths of Upāsanā (worship) and the like, and (71) who enables the experience of the unique distinctions of Bhakti-mārga from all other paths—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥24॥
prathakaśaraṇamārgopadeṣṭā śrī kṛṣṇahārdavit ।
pratikṣaṇanikuñjastha līlārasamupūritaḥ ॥ 25 ॥
Meaning: (72) The One who teaches the independent path of Bhakti, namely the Pushti-mārga of Śaraṇa, (73) who knows the innermost heartfelt sentiments of Shri Krishna, and (74) who is filled at every moment with the rasa of the Līlā taking place in Nikunja—such is Shri Vallabha. ॥25॥
tatkathākṣiptacittastad vismṛtānyo vrajapriyaḥ ।
priyavraja sthitiḥ puṣṭilīlākarttā rahaḥpriyaḥ ॥ 26 ॥
Meaning: (75) Whose mind is absorbed in the narration of the rasa of Nikunja-līlā, (76) who causes all else to be forgotten for Nikunja-līlā, (77) to whom Vraja is dear, (78) to whom dwelling in Vraja is dear, (79) who performs Pushti-līlā, and (80) who delights in Ekantik Bhakti—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥26॥
bhaktecchāpūrakaḥ sarvā jñātalīlo’timāhanaḥ ।
sarvāsakto bhaktamātrāsaktaḥ patitapāvanaḥ ॥ 27 ॥
Meaning: (81) The fulfiller of the devotee’s desires, (82) whose Līlās cannot be understood by anyone else, (83) who profoundly enchants devotees, (84) free from attachment towards all living beings, (85) attached only to devotees, and (86) the purifier of fallen souls—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥27॥
svayaśogānasahṛṣṭa hṛdayāmbhojaviṣṭaraḥ ।
yaśaḥ pīyūṣalaharīplāvitānyarasaḥ paraḥ ॥ 28 ॥
Meaning: (87) The One who resides in the lotus-like heart of the devotee a devotee being pleased by the singing a praise of Aapshri’s glory, (88) whose wave of the nectar of His own glory let immersed all other rasas of devotees except the devotees’ Bhakti-rasa, and (89) who is supreme above all—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥28॥
līlāmatarasārdrādrīṃ kṛtākhilaśarīrabhṛt ।
govarddhanasthityutsāhasta līlā premapūritaḥ ॥ 29 ॥
Meaning: (90) The One who fills all embodied beings with rasa through the relishable bhāva of the nectar of His Līlā, (91) who is ever eager to reside at Shri Govardhana Girirāja, and (92) who is filled with Prema-rasa for that Bhagavad-līlā (the Līlā related to Girirājjī)—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥29॥
yajñabhoktā yajñakarttā chaturvarga viśāradaḥ ।
satyapratijña striguṇā tīto nayaviśāradaḥ ॥ 30 ॥
Meaning: (93) The enjoyer of Yajña, (94) the performer of Yajña, (95) Expert in the principles of Dharma, Artha, Kāma, and Mokṣa, (96) true to His vow, (97) beyond the three Guṇas (Rajas, Tamas, and Sattva), and (98) Expert in Nīti—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥30॥
svakīrtivarddhanasta tvasūtrabhāṣyapradarśakaḥ ।
māyāvādākhyatūlāgni rbrahmavāda nirūpakaḥ ॥ 31 ॥
Meaning: (99) The One who expanded His own glory by composing the scriptures of His own Mārga, (100) the commentator on the Brahma-sūtras, (101) like fire to the cotton of Māyāvāda, and (102) the propounder of Brahmavāda—such is Shri Acharyaji. ॥31॥
aprākṛtā’khilā kalpabhūṣitaḥ sahaja smitaḥ ।
trilokī bhūṣaṇaṃ bhūmibhāgyaṃ sahajasundaraḥ ॥ 32 ॥
Meaning: (103) Adorned by the exposition of the Bhagavad-bhāva and Līlā-rasa of the Phalādhyāya of the Vyāsa-sūtras, (104) naturally smiling, (105) an ornament of the three worlds, (106) the very fortune of the earth, and (107) naturally beautiful—such is Shri Mahaprabhuji. ॥32॥
aśeṣabhakta saṃprārthyacaraṇābjarajodhanaḥ ।
ityānandanidheḥ proktaṃ nāmnāmaṣṭottaraśatam ॥ 33 ॥
Meaning: (108) The One whose lotus-foot dust, which is like a treasure, is prayed for by devotees—such is Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhuji. Thus, the one hundred and eight Names of Shri Mahaprabhuji, who is the ocean of Ānanda, have been spoken. These Names have been declared in accordance with those divine attributes. ॥33॥
śraddhāviśuddha buddhiryapaṭhatyanudinaṃ janaḥ ।
satadekamanāḥ siddhimuktāṃ prāpnotya saṃśayam ॥ 34 ॥
Meaning: Whoever, with faith, possessing a purified intellect, with a firm and resolute mind, and with one-pointed concentration, daily recites this Stotra, attains the aforementioned Mahā-siddhi (the relish of Shri Krishna’s Adharāmṛta). There is no doubt about this. ॥34॥
tadaprāptauvṛthāmokṣa stadāptautadgatārthatā ।
ataḥ sarvottamaṃ stotraṃ japyaṃ kṛṣṇarasārthibhiḥ ॥ 35 ॥
Meaning: Without the attainment of that Siddhi, even Mokṣa is fruitless. And if that Siddhi relating to one’s own Mārga is attained, then even Sāyujya and other forms of Mokṣa become meaningless. Therefore, this Sarvottama Stotra is worthy of being recited by those who long for the rasa of Shri Krishnachandra. ॥35॥
