In Jagannath Puri, the festival of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra is celebrated on the second day of the bright fortnight in the month of Ashadha.

However, in the Pushtimarg tradition, the Rath Yatra is observed from the first to the third, Anyone of the day of the bright fortnight of Ashadha, specifically on the day when the Pushya Nakshatra is present at sunrise.

Bhav of Rathyatra in Marayada Marga :

In Dwarikapuri, when Sister Subhadra Devi requested Shri Krishna for a city tour, Prabhu, accompanied by his brother Balarama, took her on a chariot ride through the city of Dwarka.

During the journey, all the people of the city gathered to witness the procession, and the Lord bestowed his grace upon the devotees.

This is one of the reasons The Rath Yatra festival is celebrated. Odisha’s Cultural Heritage Rathyatra Festival Rituals: During the festival in Lord Jagannath Puri, the construction of chariots begins on Akshaya Tritiya for all three Swaroops.

The chariots are meticulously crafted and adorned, and on the day of the festival, the deities are seated in their respective chariots. And the Chariot Pulling Tradition by the devotees is begins.

Then, the entire city of Puri becomes part of the procession, with millions of devotees converging to seek blessings and witness the sacred event.

Why Rathyatra is being celebrated in Pushtimarg?

In the year 1616 of the Vikram Samvat calendar, on the 13th day of the bright fortnight of Magh month, Shri Gusainji arrived in Jagannath Puri. Aapshri resided there for six months.

And celebrated the Rath Yatra festival. During this time that Prabhu Jagadish commanded the commencement of the Rath Yatra festival within the Pushtimarg tradition.

When Shri Gusainji arrived in Adel, he had a chariot prepared by a carpenter named Rasa. In this chariot, Shri Navneetpriya Prabhu was seated, and the Rath Yatra festival began during the Ashadha Sud Bij on the day of the Pushya Nakshatra.

In Some of the “Pushti-Ghar”  where the Balbhava is predominant, the temples do not have horses for Prabhu’s chariot, as the Divine Child is seated in the chariot, and it is believed that horses might scare the divine child. Therefore, no horses are present.

Where the adolescent Bhava ( Kishor Bhava)  is dominant, wooden horses are certainly placed with chariots in those temples.

In Nathdwara, a silver chariot is placed before Shriji. Except for Shrinathji’s temple, in all other “Pushti-Ghar”, four Darshans are happend during Rajbhog, symbolizing the four Yuth.

Bal bhava : 

In Vrajbhumi Yashoda maiya made our Prabhu beseated on chariot and visits the entire Vrajabhumi. There is also one bhav where as in balbhav Horses are not connected with the chariot.

As little Krushna might get scared so the Friends of Prabhu becomes the horses & pulls the chariot. And enjoys the utsav.

Kishor bhva :

where in Kishor bhav Prabhu beseated on  chariot with shri Swaminiji Shri Radharani. & Gopis drives the chariot in Nikunjs and Taletis of Shri Girirajji.

Shri Vallabhacharya ji Mahaprabhuji’s Asura vyamoh Lila

In the year 1587 of Vikram Samvat, Shri Thakorji commanded Shri Mahaprabhuji in Adel for the third time to renounce the earthly realm. Shri Mahaprabhuji, heeding Thakorji’s decree, relinquished his household duties.

And embraced Tridand Sannyas, a vow of silence- Mounvrata. After 39 days of Sannyas, on the 40th day, Shri Gusaiji and Shri Gopinathji, as children, approached Mahaprabhuji at Hanuman Ghat on the banks of the Ganges.

Mahaprabhuji was in Mounvrata. As his final teaching, he inscribed ‘Sardhatrya’—three and a half verses—on the sand, known as ‘Shiksha Shloki’.

यदा बहिर्मुखा यूयं भविष्यथ कथंचन।
तदा कालप्रवाहस्था देहचित्तादयोऽप्युत।।1।।

सर्वथा भक्षयिष्यन्ति युष्मानिति मतिर्मम।
न लौकिकः प्रभुः कृष्णो मनुते नैव लौकिकम् ।।2।।

During that Shreenathji Appeared infront of Aapshri. Facing Shrinathji, he composed the third verse.

भावस्तत्राप्य स्मदीयः सर्वस्वश्चैहिकश्च सः।
परलोकश्च तेनायं सर्वभावेन सर्वथा ।।3।।
सेव्यः स एव गोपीशो विधास्यत्यखिलं हि नः।।31/2।।

At the moment Mahaprabhuji wrote these three and a half verses, Prabhu himself completed the composition with one and a half verses, as if stamping his approval on Mahaprabhuji’s teachings. These are as follows.

मयि चेदस्ति विश्वासः श्रीगोपीजनवल्लभे ।।4।।
तदा कृतार्था यूयं हि शोचनीयं न कर्हिचित् ।
मुक्तिर्हित्वाऽन्यथा रूपं स्वरूपेण व्यवस्थिति।। 5।।

After prostrating before Shrinathji, Mahaprabhuji stood up and slowly immersed each step into the Ganges. The waters began to ripple. Mahaprabhuji entered the midstream of the Ganges up to his waist.

And then a divine aura appeared, reaching up to the solar realm and becoming stationary. Thousands of servants and others witnessed this divine play. At that time, an English writer who had come from abroad to the university in India for Studies was also present.

Fortuitously, he too witnessed this divine play and described the scene he beheld in his book as “a great wonder of the world, an event I had never seen before.” This miraculous play continued uninterrupted for about three hours.

Mahaprabhuji returned to his divine abode. Shri Vallabhacharayaji performed this Asura Vyamoh Lila. Shri Vallabh Established Aapshri’s swaroopa in the cave of Shri Girirajji near the Dandavati Shila.

Bhavartha of Shiksha Shrloki :

“Embrace the profound truth that if you turn away from the Divine, the relentless flow of time will consume your being and consciousness entirely. This is my unwavering belief.

Prabhu Krishna is not to be perceived through a worldly lens; He has no need for material things. Everything emanates from the Divine; our existence in this world and the hereafter is rooted in Him.

This realization should be firmly planted in our minds. With this steadfast belief, one must serve the Gopishwar, Prabhu Shri Krishna Chandra, with all their heart. He alone will fulfill all your needs.”

रथयात्रा सेवा क्रम पुष्टिमार्ग

सभी द्वार में डेली मंढे,बंदरवाल बंधे।  जमनाजल की झारीजी । थाली की आरतीे। गेंद चौगान,दिवाला चाँदी के। मोती को चौखटा आवे । राजभोग समय चाँदी को रथ ,प्रभु के सनमुख आवे । आज से सेवाक्रम में कई परिवर्तन होंगे |

शीतल जल के फव्वारे, खस के पर्दे, खस के पंखा, जल का छिड़काव, प्रभु के सम्मुख जल में रजत खिलौनों का थाल, मणिकोठा में पुष्पों पत्तियों से सुसज्जित फुलवारी आदि ऊष्णकाल के धोतक साज आज से पूर्ण हो जायेंगे |

आज से छिड़काव,खस के पंखा,जमना जल को थाल,फुवारा आदी सेवा बंद होवे । अभ्यंग ।

साज : श्रीजी में आज सफेद मलमल की सुनहरी ज़री की तुईलैस के ‘धोरे-वाली’ वाली पिछवाई धरायी जाती है | गादी, तकिया और चरणचौकी के ऊपर सफेद बिछावट की जाती है |

वस्त्र : आज ही मध्याह्न समय श्री महाप्रभुजी ने गंगाजी की मध्यधारा में सदेह प्रवेश कर आसुरव्यामोह लीला कर नित्यलीला में प्रवेश किया था, जिसके स्मरण में आज के दिन श्रीजी को श्वेत वस्त्र धराये जाते हैं |

पर्वरुपी उत्सव के कारण कुल्हे जोड़ का श्रृंगार धराया जाता है | पिछोड़ा डोरिया को स्वेत,धोरा को।श्रीमस्तक पे स्वेत कूल्हे,सुनहरी किनारी की।ठाड़े वस्त्र केसरी,डोरिया के।पिछवाई स्वेत सुनहरी किनारी के धोरा की।

आभरण : सब हीरा व उष्णकाल के मिलमा।श्रृंगार बनमाला से दो आगुल उचो।आज हास, चोटी, पायल नहीं आवे।कली, वल्लभी,आदी सब माला आवे।नीचे पदक,ऊपर माला,हार आदी धरावे।श्रीमस्तक पे पाँच मोर चन्द्रिका को जोड़ आवे।वेणु वेत्र हीरा के,एक वेत्र मोती को।पट उष्णकाल को,गोटी मोती की।

कीर्तन :

मंगला – कुँवर चलो जू आगे गहबर वन 

राजभोग – गोवर्धन पर्वत ऊपर

आरती – गाय सब गोवर्धन ते आई 

शयन – सुंदर बदन री सुख सदन

मान – तेरो मन गिरधर बिन न रहेगो

जसोदा रथ देखन कों आई ॥ देखोरी मेरोलाल गिरेगो कहाकरों मेरीमाई ॥१ ॥
मेरो ढोटा पालने सोवे उंधरक उधरक रोवे ।। अघासुर बकासुर मारे नेन निरंतर जोवे ॥२ ॥
देहरी उलंघन गिर्योरी मोहन सोई घात में जानी ॥ परमानंद होऊ तहां ठाडे कहत नंदजुकी रानी ॥३ ॥

राग मल्हार

रथचढ चलत यशोदा आंगन ॥ विविध शृंगार सकल अंग शोभित मोहत कोटि अनंगन ॥१ ॥
बालक लीला भाव जनावत किलक हँसत नंदनंदन ॥ गरें बिराजत हार कुसुमनके चर्चित चोवाचंदन ||२ ||
अपने अपने गृह पधरावत सब मिलि व्रजयुवती जन || हर्षित अति अर्पत सब सर्वस्व वारतहें तन मन धन || ३ ||
सब व्रजदे सुख आवत घर कों करत आरती ततछन || रसिकदास हरि की यह लीला वसो हमारे ही मन ॥ ४ ॥

लालमाई खरेई बिराजत आज ।। रत्न खचित रथ ऊपर बैठे नवल नवल सबसाज ॥१॥
सूथन लाल काछनी शोभित उरवैजयंती माल ॥ माथें मुकुट ओढें पीतांबर अंबुज नयन विशाल || २ ||
श्यामअंग आभूषण पहरें झलकत लोल कपोल ।। बारबार चितवत सबही तन बोलत मीठे बोल ॥ ३ ॥
यह छबि निरख निरख व्रजसुंद‌र लोचन भरभर लेहो ।। फिर फिर झांकझांक मुख देखो रोमरोम सुखपेहो ॥४ ।।
उतरलाल मंदिरमें आये मुरली मधुर बजाय ॥ निरख निरख फूलत नंदरानी मुख चुंबत ढिंगआय ॥५ ॥
अति शोभित करलियें आरती करत सिहाय सिहाय ।। श्रीविद्वल गिरिधरनलाल पर वारत नाहिं अघाय ।।६ ।।
