Janmashtami Maha Mahotsav ki Magal Badhai. On this auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, we celebrate the birth of Prabhu Shri Krishna, the Param Bramha. Mathura, the city of King Kansa, witnessed the divine event when Mother Devaki and Father Vasudeva welcomed their son into the world.
According to various beliefs, Bhagwan Shri Krishna is ‘Ajanma’. n this day, He manifested in human form. When Mother Devaki is about to give birth to the child, a divine light illuminates the prison where they were held captive. In that radiant glow, Devaki and Vasudeva had the darshan of the Bhagwan in Child Form and in infant form, with four arms and divine grace.
Subsequently, Vasudeva’s shackles miraculously opened, the prison doors swung wide, and the guards fell into a deep sleep. Carrying the newborn Krishna, Vasudeva crossed the Yamuna River and reached Gokul.
There, he replaced Krishna with Yashoda’s Daughter(who is Swaroop of Yog Maaya).
Pushtimarg’s Nitya Seva Pranalika, and Utsav Shringar Pranalika Starts from today.
Shri Mahaprabhuji, within the Pushtimarg tradition, has given paramount importance to four out of the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu:
Narasimha Avatar
Vamana Avatar
Rama Avatar
Krishna Avatar
The underlying sentiment is that in these avatar’s deeds, the Lord has showered his grace on his devotees, who are devoid of any means and are the epitome of selfless devotion. ‘Grace’ here is synonymous with ‘Pushti’.
Hence, in the Pushtimarg tradition, fasting is a revered practice during the appearance celebrations of these four avatars, especially on their respective Jayantis.
The primary reason for having a fast is to purify ourselves internally before the Lord graces us with his presence. By fasting, we prepare to stand before Prabhu, to behold his divine form, and to celebrate his auspicious festivals with a pure heart and soul.
Today, Panchamrit Snan will be offered to Shrinathji. Heavy Shringar Kram will be offered today. At midnight, Shri Krishna’s Janmotsav celebration commences. Evening Aarti (devotional ceremony) is followed by Ratri Jagran Darshan, lasting until Midnight.
