Tithi : Shravan Krishnapaksha Ashtami

Janmashtami Maha Mahotsav ki Magal Badhai. On this auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, we celebrate the birth of Prabhu Shri Krishna, the Param Bramha. Mathura, the city of King Kansa, witnessed the divine event when Mother Devaki and Father Vasudeva welcomed their son into the world.

According to various beliefs, Bhagwan Shri Krishna is ‘Ajanma’. n this day, He manifested in human form. When Mother Devaki is about to give birth to the child, a divine light illuminates the prison where they were held captive. In that radiant glow, Devaki and Vasudeva had the darshan of the Bhagwan in Child Form and in infant form, with four arms and divine grace.

Subsequently, Vasudeva’s shackles miraculously opened, the prison doors swung wide, and the guards fell into a deep sleep. Carrying the newborn Krishna, Vasudeva crossed the Yamuna River and reached Gokul.

There, he replaced Krishna with Yashoda’s Daughter(who is Swaroop of Yog Maaya).

Here, there is also a Bhav. Prabhu Shri Ram is the Purushottam. Shri Krishna is PurnaPurushottam.

In Mathura, the divine Prabhu Shri Krishna appeared. He is the embodiment of divine majesty. When the Vaishnav goes for the Pushtikran Procces of Thakurjis to Vallabhakul Acharya. Panchamrit Snan of Thakorji takes place, which includes the touch of the Yamuna river. Through this, our divine  Marayada PurnaPurushottam Prabhu, Arrives as Pushti PurnaPurushottam.

This bhava is connected to that divine play. When Vasudev Ji was bringing Prabhu from Mathura, they crossed the Yamuna river. At that moment, Yamunaji touched Prabhu’s lotus feet, and the divine Marayada PurnaPurushottam Prabhu Resides in Shri Yamunaji. And Pushti PurnaPurushottam Prabhu along with Vasudevji, arrives in Gokul.

11 years later, when Prabhu was returning from Vraj to Mathura, Prabhu performed snan in the Yamuna River. Then Our Pushti PurnaPurushottam Prabhu stayed in Vraj. And Maraya PurnaPurushottam Prabhu from Yamuna River returned from there to Mathura.

For this reason, the Pushti PurnaPurushottam Prabhu always resides in Vraj, So There is always Nitya Lila in Vraj.

Pushtimarg’s Nitya Seva Pranalika, and Utsav Shringar Pranalika Starts from today.

Shri Mahaprabhuji, within the Pushtimarg tradition, has given paramount importance to four out of the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu:

Narasimha Avatar
Vamana Avatar
Rama Avatar
Krishna Avatar
The underlying sentiment is that in these avatar’s deeds, the Lord has showered his grace on his devotees, who are devoid of any means and are the epitome of selfless devotion. ‘Grace’ here is synonymous with  ‘Pushti’.

Hence, in the Pushtimarg tradition, fasting is a revered practice during the appearance celebrations of these four avatars, especially on their respective Jayantis.

The primary reason for having a fast is to purify ourselves internally before the Lord graces us with his presence. By fasting, we prepare to stand before Prabhu, to behold his divine form, and to celebrate his auspicious festivals with a pure heart and soul.

here is a common misconception that ‘Jayanti’ is celebrated for those who have passed away, but the scriptures do not support this notion. The term ‘Jayant’ signifies one who is always victorious, which is why one of Lord Vishnu’s names is Jayant.

In the Skanda Purana, ‘Jayanti’ is defined as the date that brings victory and Punya (merit). According to Vastu Shastra, a date when all planets are in their topmost exalted positions is called ‘Jayanti’. It is not something that can be associated with an ordinary human being.
